New look for latest T-50

Photo: The T-50-9 landing at Zhukovsky. Vasily Kuznetsov

Photographs emerging from Russia have revealed details of the latest flying prototype for Sukhoi’s PAK FA fifth-generation fighter project. The aircraft, T-50-9, reportedly made its first flight at Komsomolsk-on-Amur on April 24. However, it only broke cover once it began flight tests at Zhukovsky, outside Moscow, between May 10-12. Aircraft ‘509’ differs from its predecessors in its ‘pixelated’ camouflage scheme.

Since the first unofficial photos emerged, the T-50-9 has been pictured air-to-air undergoing trials with new underwing drop tanks.
