Malaysia gets its Flankers

 

Russia’s Irkut Corporation reports that it will complete delivery of the final four Su-30MKM ‘Flankers’ for the Royal Malaysian Air Force.

August 12: Russia’s Irkut Corporation reports that it will complete delivery of the final four Su-30MKM ‘Flankers’ for the Royal Malaysian Air Force by the end of August.

The RMAF ordered 18 aircraft in August 2003, with deliveries commencing from May 2007, a year later than originally planned. The most recent deliveries have involved batches of two aircraft in March 2008 and July 2009.

Similar in specification to the Indian MKI version, the MKM in the onboard avionics suite, tailored to meet the needs of the RMAF. It features Thrust Vector Control and the most up-to-date digital fly-by-wire system.
